Had an executive recruiter try to tie my lacking one element of experience to a lowering of what the company would pay me. Then she tried to say that if I am currently making less than the advertised salary range, that also was cause for the company to pay me less. I did not reveal my current salary and asked why that made a difference anyway. She said the company likes to pay for “people”, not “positions.” All this was in my first phone screening call. This strikes me to be bad form to be getting so deep into salary at this stage. Any suggestions how I should proceed?
